Obituary for Alexander Leroy "Alex" Keller

Alexander L. Keller

8.31.39 – 1.19.24

Alexander L. Keller, (84), of Slinger, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2024.

Alexander is survived by his children, Laurie (Terry Crass) Keller, Christopher Keller, and Mark (Tricia) Keller.  He is also survived by his grandchildren; Jacob (Katelyn) Kaad, Angela (Sean K.) Kaad, Ashley Kaad, Scott (Katie) Backes, Bo Keller, Collin (Lexie) Keller, Luke (Briana) Keller; and great-grandchildren; Zachary, Kanyon, Oliver, Luna Grace, and Leon.

Alexander, better known as Alex to most, was the third of three sons born to the late Alex and Lucille (Radtke) Keller in Kewaskum, Wisconsin on August 31, 1939.   Alex was raised from a young age by his mother and late step-father, Harry Ehnert; alongside his two brothers, Jim, and Ron Keller, and his two step-brothers, Lloyd, and Delmar Ehnert; all of whom preceded him in death.  He attended Kewaskum Grade School and West Bend High School.  After completing basic training in the U.S. Army National Guard, Alex’s career path led him to work for Stolper Steel Industries and Western Metals as a prototype mechanic.  He earned his Metal Fabricating Apprenticeship Training certificate from Waukesha County Technical Institute in 1971.  In 2002, his dedicated, diligent work ethic allowed him to retire at the age of 62 years old.

He filled his retirement years providing exceptional lawn care and babysitting services to his children’s families, fishing and playing poker with his friends, Bill and Ron, enhancing his already avid coin-collecting knowledge and skills, watching wrestling, and enjoying the delicious side of life with all his favorites: family & friend’s homemade recipes, Pizza Saloon take-out pizza, BLT’s and Culver’s!  Throughout his life, he enjoyed being outdoors camping, hunting, snowmobiling, and landscaping yards.  He loved “Country When Country Wasn’t Cool;” always listened to all the oldies but goodie country artists and had every Western movie ever produced on repeat viewing.  He lived a simple honest life, working to build a foundation of support, love, and good moral values for his family's future and the generations of Kellers to come.

 Dad,

Your passion for classic cars and antique tractors, nurturing blue spruce pine seedlings into mature forests, seeking happiness through the smaller, simpler pleasures of life like enjoying a beer and brat at a small town picnic or washing and waxing your truck on a hot summer day, will be treasured memories and traditions we’ll continue to pass along to our kids and grandkids.  We’ll think of you always every “snooping” trip we take through the stores.  We thank you for accepting our “soft-hearted” souls and allowing us to adopt every cute baby animal we brought home to love.  We thank you for sharing your love, patience, kindness, and wisdom with us, which will live on in our hearts as we move forward to grow and share your legacy with future generations of Kellers.  We are so blessed to have had you as our Father.  We’ll miss you and forever carry your love and memory in our hearts.  XO

                                    Love, Laurie, Chris, and Mark

Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day.  Unseen, unheard but always near, still loved, still missed, and held so dear.

As per Alex’s request, no funeral or services will be held.  We invite you to make a donation to Forest for the Future Fund - Wisconsin DNR in his honor.
