Arline A. Berend (nee Timmer), was born to Eternal Life on Thursday January 16 2020 at the age of 93 years. She was born on September 9, 1926 in Munich, North Dakota to Anton and Agnes (nee Peters) Timmer. She was the beloved wife of the late Jerome J. Berend and loving mother of Thomas Richard (Mary) Berend. Dear grandmother of Timothy Ryan (Carla) Berend and great-grandmother to Anamae, Ryker and Jax Berend and Justin Theune. Arline is also survived by her cherished sister Annette (Joseph) Frank, other relatives and friends.

Arline was a graduate of the Mercy School of Nursing in Devil’s Lake, North Dakota and a member of the Army Cadet Nurse Corps. After graduation, she moved to Wisconsin where she met and married Jerome J. Berend of West Bend and started her nursing career at St. Joseph’s Community Hospital until her retirement. During her career, she also worked as an industrial nurse at several of the local manufacturing companies.

Arline loved helping people and volunteered at the Samaritan Home, Lac Lawrann Conservancy and other facilities. She also enjoyed reading, cross-stich, golf and spending time with her many friends. Her love of nature and the outdoors was apparent as she regularly hiked trails and especially love bird watching near the Milwaukee River. Her intelligence and zest for life made for many interesting conversations filled with laughter and love.
