Obituary for Avila Lavera Boelter (Zastrow)

Avila “Vi” L. Boelter, formerly of Marquette, Wisconsin, age 92, passed from this world on Wednesday August 5, 2020. She was born on February 5, 1928 in Hamburg, Wisconsin to Carl and Nora (nee Krueger) Zastrow. She married Gordon Boelter in Marathon WI on September 20, 1947, raised their 6 children in Milwaukee WI and retired to their cottage home on Lake Puckaway. She loved fishing, gardening and taking care of her flowers. She also made the best meatloaf, pigs-in-a-blanket (cabbage rolls), apple pie and monster cookies this world has ever seen.

Vi is survived by: daughters Sandra Hull of Clarksville TN, and Sally (Joseph) Roschyk of West Bend WI; sons Garry “Buck” (Carla) Boelter of Lodi WI, Jerry (Kathleen) Boelter of Greenfield WI, and Randy Boelter of Greenfield WI; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and her sister Dorthy Westfall of Maine WI.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Gordon, daughter Susan Leggett, brothers Leo and Frankie, and sister Dioma.

In accordance with Vi’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. Her family greatly appreciates all thoughts, prayers and well wishes. Vi’s family would like to thank Kathy’s Hospice, where she was able to comfortably spend her last days.
