Obituary for Cheryl Ann Ritger (Frye)

Cheryl Anne Ritger (Cherie) was surrounded by her loving family at her time of passing. She peacefully made her way to reunite with her mom Llewellyn, Dad Harold Frye, sister Diana, along with brothers Louie and Doni. At the end of her long struggle with Alzheimer’s, she asked for them often. A week before passing she mentioned her Great Granddaughter Addi and referenced the word “Heaven”. Her Mom, Dad, siblings, and her great granddaughter along with her many friends and relatives were patiently waiting for her arrival.

Our beloved wife, mother, grandma, and great grandma (also known as G.G.), was known for her strong independence. All the girls in her family are grateful she helped install her strong independence in each and every one of them. Now she is free of her disease and has her beautiful intelligent mind back. We will forever remember the “Cherie” we loved. She enjoyed playing cards with both family and her card club girlfriends. Mostly she loved to dance. Her and her husband Tom often went to see bands and danced. We can picture her dancing with her brother Louie in heaven, as they did when she was here on earth. She traveled to many places all over the world to fulfill her love for culture. These trips were taken mostly with her sister Diane and her friend from Texas Carol. She loved visiting her cousins in Niagara Wisconsin and seeing their gigantic garden which the family has kept up for many generations. We will remember how well put together she was when it came to her clothes, nails, pretty scarves and jewelry. She enjoyed spending holidays with family. And loved her long walks and sitting in the sun porch up north with her husband.

She will forever be known as “Grandma Texas” to her grandchildren she loved very much, Erika Marquardt, Nick Marquardt, Amber Krewald Klemme, Jade Krewald, and her step grandkids Tony, Patty, and Keirstyn . She transferred from Wisconsin to Texas while working for JC Penney’s Corporate, as Head of Communications.

After over 35 years at Jc Penney’s Cherie retired and moved back to Wisconsin. She was compassionate about the volunteer work she did at the Senior Center, Church, and the Schauer Arts Center. She loved going to plays and attended many of them over her life time.

Cherie loved her dogs; she will be happy to see Sasha & Willy – leaving behind her dog Molly that was always by her side.

Cherie’s daughter n law had the same name as Cheryl once she married her son. Cheryl Anne Marquardt – it was a standing joke between them. Cherie often reminded her daughter n law Cheryl - that she was the “original” Cheryl.

Cheryl is survived by her children Don Marquart, daughter in-law Cheryl, Donna Koenings, son in-law Bob as well as their children and grandchildren. Her husband Thomas Ritger, his children Andrea, Carrie, and Eric, along with their children & grandchildren.

We would like to put a special thank you out to the staff at Hartford Hospital, Cherie’s granddaughter Erika Marquardt, and Kathy Hospice. You all made the end of her journey the best it could possibly be. We all appreciate your support and heartfelt love. Kathy Hospice put her in a pretty nightgown each and every day. The day before she passed, we said she wasn’t ready to go until they changed her outfit because it was grey and a little too boring for Cherie. They changed her and a few hours later she passed. She went out as the fashionista we remember with a flower in her hands.

Your presence we miss your memories we treasure, loving you always, forgetting you Never.
