Obituary for Darlene L. Nehrbass (Geschke)

Darlene L. Nehrbass (nee Geschke) of West Bend, age 77, found peace in her Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at home with family by her side. She was born on January 26, 1943 to Gustave and Virginia (nee Schaefer) Geschke.

Darlene was a strong lady that faced so many struggles and could still find joy. Darlene knew love was most important and deeply loved her family. She spent time with them going to new places, being outdoors, playing games and doing puzzles. Autumn, her great granddaughter, was the joy of her life for the past 2 ½ years.

She loved flowers, especially tulips and lilacs, and gardening was a favorite hobby. She also loved sewing and crocheting. She made many garments and quilts in her lifetime. She also enjoyed baking - especially bread, cake, and cookies.

Music provided a lot of joy for Darlene. She played piano and even cut her own CD. She loved to sing and was looking forward to singing in heaven.

Darlene was a great money manager, lived on so little and yet was so generous. She gave to many causes close to her heart, especially hunger.

She was always up for a new adventure. She loved learning new things and had big dreams. She will be forever and always loved and cherished.

Darlene is survived by her children; Wendell Riffel, Veronica (Thomas) Martinez, Cynthia Seering, and Brenda (Scott) DeRuyter.

Darlene is survived by her grandchildren; Mariah (Greg) Wilson, Nicolette Riffel, Kyle Martinez, Kayla Martinez, Craig C. (Tessie) Seering, Sara Seering, AJ DeRuyter, and Ben DeRuyter.

She is further survived by great-grandchildren Miley, Brealynn, Oakley, Hudson and Ryker Wilson, McKenzie Martinez, Ethan, Grace, Chloe, and Andrew Seering and Autumn Jordan.

She is also further survived by her siblings Doug (Carol) Schaefer and Lori Dollhopf.

Darlene is preceded in death by her son Brian Riffel, parents Gustave and Virginia Geschke, siblings, Rachel Schloemer, Charlotte Reindl, and Ronald Geschke and brother-in-law Richard Dollhopf.

A Graveside Service will be at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Barton on 7595 Forest View Road on Thursday, June 11 on 1:00pm.

A special thank you to Horizon Home Care and Hospice, especially Lindsey and Laura. A special thank you also to all those in the community that treated Darlene with love and kindness.
