Obituary for David E. Markgraf

We are sad to announce that David E. Markgraf passed away at his home in West Bend on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on July 27, 1959, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, to David A. Markgraf and Judy (Herber) Markgraf.

David was always a determined man in every area of his life. He put his heart into his education at MSOE where he graduated with high honors. He put his heart into his career where so many of his colleagues cared for and respected him. Most of all, he poured his whole heart into what he felt was his greatest achievement, his family. He was a loving, strong, caring and dedicated son and sibling, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He always took joy in sharing his knowledge of life and interests with his family by teaching many important things to them all, which not only left them with his wisdom, but also created countless fond memories. He enjoyed fishing, camping, golfing, hunting, gardening, cooking and collecting. His greatest pleasure, however, was when he could share these passions with the people he held most dear to his heart, his family and friends. He, without a doubt, will be missed, remembered and loved forever.

David is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Pam (Daehnert) Markgraf; his children, David W. (Ashley) Markgraf of West Bend; John of California; Jenny (Eric Thurow) Markgraf of Grafton; grandchildren; Alyssa, Aidan, Aubrey, and Jolene Markgraf, and Max and Declan Rodgers, all of West Bend; his parents, David A. and Judy Markgraf of Oostburg; a brother, Michael (Patti) Markgraf of Arizona; and his sisters, Maria (Mark) Coakley of Wausau and Deanna (Jim) Timler of Cascade; his mother-in-law, Karen Daehnert of West Bend; Sheryl Reif (Mike Schmidt) of Sheboygan; Peter Daehnert of Pulaski; Dawn Teele of Albuquerque, NM; best friends John and Laura Kvistad of Woodbury, MN and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Warren Daehnert, brother in law, Mark Reif, and many grandparents and great grandparents waiting to welcome him.

A celebration of Life for the family will be held at a later date.

Memorials can be directed to David's family and donations will be made to charities chosen by his children.

The family would like to thank the staff of Sharon Richardson Home Hospice for their kind assistance in Davids’ final days, especially Kathy.
