Obituary for David Ray Scheffler

David Ray Scheffler passed away on January 31, 2020. He was born May 15, 1931 in Shelbyville, Indiana to Charles August and Mary Frances (nee Ray) Scheffler. He grew up on a farm near Shelbyville, graduated from Shelbyville High School and in 1953 obtained his B.S. degree in Agricultural Engineering from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

On May 8, 1954, David married his high school sweetheart Kathleen Ann Hannon at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Shelbyville. He started his career at International Harvester in Chicago before moving to New Idea in Coldwater, Ohio. In 1970, he joined the Gehl Company and retired in 1991. Though he left the family farm, throughout his life David worked closely with farmers to develop new and improved farm implements. He was a long-time member of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers and remained actively involved in the agriculture sector following his retirement. He enjoyed traveling with his family and woodworking.

David is survived by his wife Kathleen, sons Mark (Nancy) Scheffler and Brian (Jodi) Scheffler, grandchildren David (Kim) Scheffler and Danielle Scheffler.

Committal Services will be held at 9:00am on Saturday, February 8th at Washington County Memorial Park (3358 W Paradise Dr. West Bend).
