Obituary for Dorothy O. "Doris" Gauger (Schmidt)

Dorothy “Doris” Olivia Gauger (nee Schmidt) passed away peacefully on August 3, 2019 at New Perspectives Senior Living at age 90 years and 9 days. She was born on July 25th, 1929 to Henry and Hildegarde Schmidt (nee Peters) in the Town of Trenton, Wisconsin. She married Harold Gauger on November 19, 1947, and enjoyed 67 years of marriage before his passing in 2014. She loved gardening in her flowerbeds, spending time in the Northwoods, cooking, and was a wonderful seamstress.

Dorothy is survived by children Ken (Sharon) Gauger of Kewaskum, Keith (Sharon) Gauger of Reedsville, Steve Gauger of Kewaskum, and Susan (Chris) Sellers of Woodstock, IL; Grandchildren Pamela (Mark) McQuin of Melbourne, Australia, and Gretchen (Anthony) Engel of Ladysmith; step-grandchildren Christopher Jr. (Suzanne) Sellers, Alivia Sellers, Stevi (Casey) Fitgerald-Smith of Parker, Colorado; Great-grandchildren Madeline and Riley McQuin, Ethan and Elyse Engel; Step-great-grandchildren Ethan, Evie, Cody, Bradley, Dane, Brielle, Vivienne and Wynn; sister-in-law Sandy Schmidt of Seattle. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold who passed October 8th, 2014; Grandson Clifford; brothers Harold, Marvin, and Donald Schmidt; sisters Mary Anne Kissinger, Violet Becker, Rosie Steffen, and Phyllis Gahagan.

A Funeral Service for Dorothy will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, August 8th at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W Paradise Drive, West Bend) with Pastor Schoob officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Interment to follow at Washington County Memorial Park.
