Harvey was a proud alumnus from the University of Wisconsin – Madison with a degree in electrical engineering.  He was the first child in his family to graduate college.  He worked for many years at Miller Brewing Company for its breweries in Milwaukee, Georgia, New York, and California.  In 1984 he started his own engineering firm and worked until 2020.  He had a long term passion for 2 clients.  First, he consulted with General Electric to install MRI’s at hospitals around the country.  Second, he had a client in New York who built shredding machines requiring specialized high voltage power lines to operate the factory.

Harvey met his future wife, Gloria, at Custer High School, Milwaukee.  They did not start dating until both were in college taking the Badger Bus on weekends until he graduated from Madison and she graduated from the Milwaukee State Teachers College.  They married June 27, 1953.  Harvey enrolled with the United States Air Force and moved to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio where he worked on the electrical timing systems for bomb bombardments for the Korean war.

Gloria and Harvey loved traveling and took Mary and Christopher throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.  They were fortunate enough to have visited 5 of 7 continents.  They were both avid golfers and members at North Shore Country Club for 41 years.

Harvey had a lifetime passion for music.  He started with the violin at age 3.  He also played the saxophone and clarinet.  He was a band member of the Melody Boys in the 1940’s.  Later in life he played for the Marquette University Symphony for many years and remained a lover of music from the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra to Operas in Italy.

Both Harvey and his brother, Kingsley, had a passion for flying.  He earned his single engine pilot’s license as well as a twin-engine license.  He flew his family around Wisconsin countless times and then as far west as Colorado.  Finally he flew his twin-engine license from Milwaukee to the Bahamas and back while visiting an island named Crooked Island.

Harvey passed on February 21, 2024 following a strong and courageous battle with leukemia. The family would like to thank all his amazing doctors and caregivers as well as his long time family doctor, Dr. Jeffery Maehl.
