Obituary for Joseph R. Bina Jr.
Loving Son, Soldier, Husband, Father and Grandfather, Joseph R Bina passed away peacefully – just before Reveille - October 20. The only child of Joseph and Arlene (nee Werner), Joey was born January 6, 1926 in Milwaukee, then moved to Rockford IL. Upon graduation from Rockford East High, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1943 and served until 1945. In 1949, the day after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (BS Economics), he married the love of his life: Elizabeth Overby. He returned to Milwaukee in 1953 as a Public Relations Consultant serving, among others, St. Luke’s Hospital, Milwaukee Children’s Hospital and Milwaukee Blood Center. In 1972, Joseph Bina Associates was established; Joe became President/Executive Director of the Wisconsin Foundation of Independent Colleges and served in that position until he retired in 1991.
He leaves behind a loving family: His wife, Bets, and children: Barb Morrison (Douglas), Michael (Mary Danielle Kegel) and Diane Vetter (James). He’ll be greatly missed by his beloved grandchildren Joey Bina, Kate Vetter, Emily Vetter and Mick Bina. The family of sister in law Delphine Overby of Wilton CT – as well as his Werner cousins and friends across the country - will fondly remember this old soldier. The entire family would like to thank the loving people and their skilled care with Joe at The Waterford of West Bend and Heartland Hospice.

The Visitation will be held on November 11 from 10:00 AM until 11:15 AM at the Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend (1420 W Paradise Drive, West Bend). A Memorial Service will take place at the funeral home at 11:30 AM with Deacon Mark Jansen presiding. Military Honors follow.
