Obituary for Karen J. Eller (Moldenhauer)

Karen J. Eller, 77

Karen Jean Eller (nee Moldenhauer) of West Bend, WI was welcomed to her heavenly home and the arms of her Savior on Monday, January 15, 2024, after a long-fought, 17+ year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Karen was born on June 16, 1946, in Hartford, WI, and was baptized at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Iron Ridge.  She was raised on her family farm in the Town of Herman in Iron Ridge, and attended grade school at St. Matthew’s, where she was confirmed on May 22, 1960.  Karen graduated from Hartford Union High School in 1964.  After high school, she was employed by the West Bend Company, Sarah Coventry Jewelry, and finally by St. Joseph’s Community Hospital of West Bend as a baker and food service aide.

Karen was united in marriage to Glenn Eller on May 20, 1967, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Iron Ridge.  They resided in West Bend ever since, where they were members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, and were blessed with four children.

Karen had a great love for her Lord and her family.  She found joy in spending time with family and friends as often as possible.  She enjoyed flowers, taking walks, listening to music, dancing, singing hymns, and babysitting her grandchildren.  She possessed an amazing sense of humor, usually chiming in a silly one-liner when she could.  She loved to laugh and make people laugh.  A room always had more cheer in it when Karen was there.

Karen is survived by Glenn, her husband of 56 years; 4 children: Bryan (Michelle) Eller, Randy (Debra) Eller, Sheryl Eller, and Matthew (Katie) Eller.  7 grandchildren: Courtney (Michael) Baumann, Jonah (fiance’ Hannah) Eller, Justin Eller, Annika (Thaddeus) Schneiss, and Julie, Jacob, and Jenna Eller.  She is further survived by 2 sisters-in-law: Janet Moldenhauer and Patricia Fischer, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert, and Magdalena Moldenhauer; parents-in-law Alvin and Edna Eller; three brothers: Earl, Marvin, and Glenn Moldenhauer; sister, Darlene Schelpfeffer; sister-in-law, Marceline Moldenhauer; brother-in-law, Earl Schelpfeffer; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Reinhold & Carol Fischer.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 27th at 1:00pm at Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church (777 Indiana Ave - West Bend, WI 53095).  The family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 10:00am-12:45pm.  A post-service luncheon will follow. Interment will take place on Monday, January 29th at 10:00am at Union Cemetery, Slinger, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church or Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School.

The family would like to extend their thanks to all the staff at The Cornerstone of West Bend for their love, care, and support for Karen and her family over the past 5+ years.  A special thank you also to Tina B. at The Cornerstone for the special way she loved and cared for Karen throughout her time there.  Thank you also to all of Karen's hospice care providers in her final days, and for all the support and encouragement you gave her family.  Lastly, thank you to all the Pastors from Good Shepherd Lutheran Church who visited Karen throughout her time at The Cornerstone, and for all their words of encouragement, devotions, and prayers they provided to Karen and her family in her final days.

No guilt in life, no fear in death, this is the power of Christ in me.  From life's first cry, to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny.  No power of hell, no scheme of man, can ever pluck me from his hand.  'Til he returns, or calls me home, here in the power of Christ I'll stand.” - (Verse 4 of “In Christ Alone (My Hope Is Found)” written by Stuart Townend and Keith Getty).
