Kathleen Marie Richter, 73-year-old resident of Hubertus, passed away at The Kathy Hospice in West Bend October 1st after a courageous 7 year battle with cancer.
Kathleen was born on May 16th, 1949 in Menominee, Michigan to Ernest and Elizabeth (Jorgensen) Roeder. She moved with her family to Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the age of 7. She graduated from Riverside High School in Milwaukee in 1967. She was united in marriage with John Richter on December 2nd, 1983.
Kathleen and John lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, South Bend, Indiana, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Falls Church, Virginia before coming back to Wisconsin in the spring of 2022 settling in Hubertus.
Kathleen worked at Master lock Company in Milwaukee before her career at The American Gas Association in Washington D.C where she was the principle meeting planner for 20 years before her retirement in 2012.
Kathleen loved baking, sewing, entertaining (throwing the yearly Super Bowl party for friends and neighbors) and traveling. She particularly enjoyed traveling to Botswana on safari, Italy, Greece, Turkey, and many US locations including Oahu. Kathleen loved and delighted in her role as grandma and great grandma.
Survivors include her loving husband of 38 years, John; son Tom (Eileen) Harju, grandchildren Joshua (Elizabeth), Cody, Benjamin, Tyler; great grandson Rowan; stepson Daniel (Becky) Richter; step grandchildren Tate, Cali, Ellie, Avery and Charlie; siblings Linda Preisinger, Terrance Roeder, Lawrence Roeder and Bertha Jicha; sisters in law Kitty (Lyle) Hanson and Yvonne Richter; many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents Ernest and Elizabeth Roeder; siblings Butch Roeder and Patty Pizzino; brothers in law Terrance Pizzino and David Richter.
A Memorial Service will be at 1:00PM on Sunday, October 9, 2022 at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W Paradise Dr. West Bend, WI 53095) with Pastor Taylor Klopatek presiding. Visitation will be prior at the funeral home on Sunday, October 9th from 11:00AM until 12:45PM. Private Family Interment at Washington County Memorial Park.
