Obituary for Larry Duane Hillyer Sr.
Larry D. Hillyer Sr.
Passed peacefully Thursday December 21, 2023 with family by his side at the age of 77. Larry was born in Oakland, California. The son of the late Jack and Helen (nee Watt) Hillyer. On February 19, 1966, he married the love of his wife, Barbara J, Keyes.
Larry was a proud United States Army Veteran. After the military Larry worked with his father-in-law Bill Keyes, he then moved onto the plastic industry as a Hoper Filler and working his way up to Quality Engineer Manager, working with Major Car Industries and traveled to Germany, Ireland and Mexico. Barbara and Larry lived in Germany for two years.
Larry was a wonderful artist, like a lot of his family members. He was an avid runner and cyclist, and supported Barb with her candy making, baking, and other skills. If she needed something crafted, he was there to help.
Larry is survived by his wife Barbara J. Hillyer, of 57 years; children Larry Duane Hillyer Jr., Brian Gregory Hillyer, and Katherine Louise (Joel) Gregg; grandchildren Caitlyn (Ryan) Toma, Crisha Bishop, Judith Hillyer, Nathaniel (Emily) Hillyer, Myles Hillyer, Devan Hillyer; greatgrandchilren Vishnu Everett Singh, and Emerson Louise Toma.
Larry is further survived by siblings Annette Nettle (nee Hillyer), and Daniel Hillyer, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 10:00 am until the time of the 11:00 am Memorial Service at St. John's Lutheran Church, 2881 Division Rd., Jackson, WI 53027. Pastor Paul K. Mittermaier will be Officiating.
Burial will be held privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John's Church in Larry's name would be appreciated.
