Obituary for Linda Mary Murphy (Howat)

Linda Mary Murphy (nee Howat), age 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 29, 2022, after battling pulmonary issues for many years. She was born in St. Paul, MN on March 30, 1945 to Albert and Beata Howat. She married the love of her life, William “Bill” in December 1966, and they remained happily (for the most part, according to Linda!) married for 55 years.

While growing up in the Forest Lake, MN area, she attended Minnesota State University at Mankato, obtaining degrees in Elementary Education and Sociology. As a newly married military couple, they moved to Florida and California, where Linda taught in elementary schools. Bill and Linda moved to the Fox Valley area in 1976, where they started their veterinary practice, with Linda working in the front office at Kaukauna Veterinary Clinic for over 20 years.

Linda had many diverse interests. She was active in her church and community, and she enjoyed golf, gourmet group, bridge, pickleball, motorcycle trips, and working in her yard. Linda most loved spending time with her family, whether it be camping, time at the cabin, skiing, boating, or traveling. Her grandchildren became the center of her life, and she spent her time creating wonderful family memories.

Linda is survived by her husband, Bill; three daughters: Kelyn (Jeff) Meyer of Germantown, WI, Carrie (Chris) Haese, of Beaver Dam, WI, and Kirsten (Drew) Priddy of USMC discretion; and her grandkids Lauren (Sam), Jensen, Rebecka, Robert, Moya, Jack, and Marin. She is also survived by her sister Geri (Bud) Julkowski of Shoreview, MN, and many nieces and nephews.

A service for immediate family was held on June 9, 2022, and will be followed by a “Celebration of Life” at a later date.
