Obituary for Louise Lynn Severson (Kramer)

Louise Lynn Severson, nee Kramer, passed away on March 23, 2020 at the Kathy Hospice in West Bend, at the age of 76. She was born to Ray and Marge (Naber) Kramer on May 15, 1943 and was a life-long resident of Slinger. After completing eight years at St. Peter Elementary, she attended and graduated as the class valedictorian of Slinger High School in 1961. Her main interest in school was music (piano, cello in the string orchestra in grade school, mixed chorus, girls’ glee club and flute in the high school band). She was editor of the high school yearbook and continued her interest in school activities when her children were involved in music and sports, and as coordinator of the Class of ’61 reunions every five years. She was an avid line-dancer for years, making many new friends through that activity.

Louise is survived by her children Laurie Severson-Curiel and Scott Severson; granddaughters Ambar (Paul) Curiel-Mader and Abril Curiel; great-grandsons Jack, Henry and Charlie Mader; and her sisters Paula (Mike) Riebe and Ann (Gary) Dornfeld; nieces and nephews Stephanie Riebe (Eric) Diehl and their children Jenna & Becca, Heather Riebe Miller and Michael & Molly, Amy Dornfeld (Jeff) Debroux and Adam & Anna, Erica (Jesse) Land and Miles, Norah & Violet, Brian (Maggie) Kramer, Michele (Bryan) Bertola and Bo, and Christine (Kevin) Pepper and James. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Trudy Kramer, Rita, Lucy, and Jean Severson; cousins Allen “Butch” (Judy) Held, Art (Sonja) Held, and Barbara Naber Scott; along with her classmates, former co-workers, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her dear brother Rick, cousins Don “Doc” and Phyllis Held, Bud and Marianne Naber, Clarence (Ruth) Naber and Robert Naber, and Severson in-laws Harold, Lavern, Roger, Lillian (Orville) Soyk and Florence (Chuck) Thompson.

Louise waitressed for many years, starting at The Springs/Edelweiss Haus on Highway 41 in 1965, then in West Bend at Lee Schmidt’s Moraine Supper Club and all succeeding ownerships at that location, lastly at China Palace. She also worked for 14 years at the F.W. Woolworth Central Accounting Office at Northridge, continuing to waitress part-time, and helping out at Gundrum’s Market in Slinger, until she started as a corrections officer at the Washington County Jail, where she worked from 1995 until her retirement in December, 2009. Retirement provided her with free time for her favorite pastime – traveling.

Memorials to Kraemer Cancer Center in West Bend or Honours, Inc. at Slinger High School appreciated.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Hickory Lane Park, Jackson, WI from 1pm to 4pm. Family and friends are welcomed. A private memorial service and burial were held.
