Obituary for Matthew E. "Matt" Vega
Matthew “Matt” E Vega, age 71, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. He was born February 20, 1950 to Evaristo and Lucy Vega (nee Lopez). Matt was a devoted husband to Kathy Tauben (nee Rausch) and a devoted dad to Tina (Doug), Lynn, Matt, John (Melissa) & Jodi (Terry). He was a loving grandpa “gramps’ to Anthony (Crystal), Cory, Holliy, Brady, Audree, Matthew (Haleigh), Rylan, Evan, Jackson, Garrett and Ian. He cherished his great-grandkids, Landon, Braxton and Aria.
Matt enjoyed putzing in his garage while smoking a cigar “stogie” and watching TV. He prided himself on being a “farmer” of his handful of tomato and cucumber plants. Matt’s summers were spent taking his beloved 1976 Cadillac to car shows with his grandson Ian. Matt and Kathy would take vacations to Florida to visit Tina, slowly turning into snowbirds as each trip grew longer. Some of Matt’s favorite stops included Maria’s Pizza, Omicron “Armitron”, Taco Tuesday at Casa Tequila and Kwik Trip for a big buddy and lottery tickets.
Matt had a heart of gold and would offer to help anybody in need. He was a genuine man and one of a kind. No matter the situation, he was always worried about everyone else and would ask how they were doing. Matt spent some of his time after retirement working at F&S Trucking where he built many friendships and became known as “Mittens”.
A Celebration of Matt’s life will be held on Sunday, March 28th at Parkside Community United Church of Christ in Saukville, WI. Visitation will be from 2-4pm with a service to follow.
