Obituary for Mercedes Duncan (Gomez)

Mercedes Duncan (nee Gomez), of Oakfield, WI. Was called home to God on November 7, 2023 at the age of 61.

Born to Epifanio R and Maria Luz (nee Martinez) Gomez on December 17, 1961 in Phoenix, AZ. Where she was raised with her 12 brothers and sisters.  Graduate of Dysart High School in the class of 1980.  Later married to Jon Zemlo, the love of her life.

Mercedes lived a rich life because nothing was more precious to her than her family.  Sitting front row and cheering on her grandchildren in all their endeavors kept her heart full. Riding horses was a love she gained from her father and passed it on to her daughter Kristin and granddaughter, Jailyn. Mercedes spent her days working her horse stables, caring for her 9 horses as well as her beloved pack of German Shepherds and prized Bouvier, Abby. People often told Mercedes she had her hands full, but Mercedes always said her heart was fuller!  Mercedes had many jobs throughout her life, farmer, semi-truck driver, implement broker, fork-lift operator, cowgirl, but no job was more rewarding than creating a loving and welcoming home to share with Jon and all her family and friends.

Mercedes leaves behind her husband Jon; daughters, Alexis (Peter) Hale, Kristin (Jon) O’Callaghan, Nicole (Michael) Swan, Brandi (Delvin) Rens, son Robert (Sky) Kelly; grandchildren, Landon, Kamden, Jailyn, Everleigh, Jayda and Zoey.  Mercedes is further survived by 9 brothers and sisters as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
