Patricia Anna Rinn

Patricia “Pat” A. Rinn, 84, of West Bend, WI, beloved wife of Lawrence (Bud) M. Rinn, Jr. for nearly 60 years, passed away peacefully February 19, 2024, at Kathy Hospice in West Bend, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud, (1939-2020), sister Penny Miller, Venice, FL (1947-2021) and her parents, Fred Miller (1916-1970) and Ruth Miller (1920-2017).

Pat was born March 9, 1939, in Beloit, WI where she lived until graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a teaching degree in elementary education. Throughout her life she was active in swimming, camping, attending her sons’ and grandkids’ sports and music events, and was accomplished in painting and sewing. She was also a talented singer.

She married Bud Rinn on August 20, 1960. They lived in Whitewater, WI, Valders, WI, Tampa, FL, Richmond, IL, Burlington, WI, Newburg, WI, and West Bend, WI.

Pat began her professional career as a first-grade teacher working at Jefferson Elementary School in Manitowoc, WI.   She also taught in Tampa, FL, Richmond, IL and a few other schools before settling in West Bend.  She earned her Master of Education from the National College of Education, Evanston, IL. After 35 years of teaching, she retired from Fair Park Elementary School in 1995.

Pat is survived by her three sons and their spouses, Tim and Shelly (Confare), Appleton, WI and grandchildren Madison, Max and Meghan Rinn; Jeff Rinn, Lena, WI; and Greg and Dianne (Barth), West Bend, WI and grandchildren Mitchell, Melissa (Kopp) and Ryan Rinn. She is further survived by three nephews, one niece and numerous friends.

She was a positive, loving, and happy person with tremendous inner beauty who made everyone around her better. Pat truly loved spending her time with her family and friends. She was the kind of teacher everyone wished they had and spent most of her free nights and weekends transforming her classroom into a magical place for her students. She even brought in her sons into her classroom to assist with her lessons.

Our family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the caregivers of Kathy Hospice, New Perspective Senior Living, and the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend. Their dedication to providing quality care and compassion has been a blessing.  Pat was a very special lady, and we thank God for the gift of her life, patience, unconditional love, and her never-ending smile.

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2024, from 1:00pm until 2:45pm with the Memorial Service beginning at 3:00 pm, at Phillip Funeral Home, 1420 W. Paradise Dr., West Bend, WI 53095. In lieu of flowers we will be establishing a scholarship fund in honor of Pat for aspiring educators.
