Obituary for Reinhold Albert Fischer
Reinhold Albert Fischer, age 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at the Hamilton House in Cedarburg. He was born on June 26, 1931 in Mequon while living on G-pa Albert’s farm located on Bigelow Road. He moved to Medford, WI around 1932-1936 and lived in a small rural cabin. At the age of 14, he attended Milwaukee Lutheran High School. A highlight was playing freshman basketball, making the team of 12 out of 50-60 kids that tried out. Later worked in Washington County on farms and lived with those families while attending Slinger High School. 1951-1953 he worked at Fromm Bros Mink Ranch in Thiensville, WI.
On May 23, 1953 he married his love, Carol Alma Eller at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Slinger, WI. He then entered the United States Army. Together they had 4 children. From 1962 to 1992 his work life was as an Engineering Technician for Wisconsin Electric (WE Energies) and then retirement.
Reinhold enjoyed running, the Boston Marathon twice (1987 and 1989), the Ultra-Marathon (50 mile), winning many races in his age group over the years including 15 years in a row at an annual race in Mineral Point, WI. He was always an active member of the WELS churches and currently a member of Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend. During retirement he enjoyed woodworking, having his own sawmill, gardening and for many years making maple syrup. Being outdoors, fishing, hiking and visiting his properties- was a joy!
Reinhold is survived by his children, Steve, Sandy and Darryl (Trisha); grandchildren, Kristina (Josh) Loggins, Brittany (Nick) McLean, Allyssa (Chris) Van Caster; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh (fiancé Jared Dexter) Gorman, Kendall, Jaden and Jace Loggins, Amelia McLean and Elena Van Caster; sister-in-law, Sharon Fischer and brother-in-law, Glenn (Karen) Eller. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Reinhold is preceded in death by his wife Carol (nee Eller) Fischer, infant son Jeffrey, his parents, parents-in-law Alvin and Edna (nee Funk) Eller, siblings Robert (Kathleen), Andrew, James (Betty) and siblings-in-law Marilyn.
A Funeral Service will be at 3:30PM on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church (777 S. Indiana Ave. West Bend, WI 53095) with Pastor Paul Janke and Pastor Robert Hein presiding. Visitation will be at church Sunday, November 5th from 1:30PM until 3:15PM. Private Family Interment at Union Cemetery in Slinger.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Hamilton House (W76 N629 N Wauwatosa Rd. Cedarburg, WI 53012) and/or St. Croix Hospice (13255 W Bluemound Rd #103 Brookfield, WI 53005).
