Obituary for Reverend Frank A. Bauman

Reverend Frank A. Bauman, age 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Serenity Villa in Slinger. He was born on November 18, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York to Frank and Gertrude (nee Weiss) Bauman.

Frank’s religious awaking happened early in life during high school. As his faith in Christianity grew complete, he felt a calling to lead, serve and guide others on their own spiritual journeys.

His early work experiences reflected his humble beginnings and served to help finance his education. He caddied, worked as a laborer in landscaping and a cemetery, was a janitor and spent time in a machine shop and an accounting office.

One week after finishing a bachelor’s degree in history at Wagner College in Staten Island, NY, Frank married his high school sweetheart, Theodora (Teddy) nee Brenneis, on June 10, 1951. He finished his formal education at the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, PA.

He served congregations in North Bergen, Lavalette, and Vineland, NJ; Hartford and West Bend, WI along with other interim positions. Highlights of his career include building the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Vineland; establishing a Family Counseling Service, Day Care Center, An Outreach to the Aging and a Co-Op in Vineland, NJ; an Outreach Program for the Aging in Hartford, WI; and Day Care Centers in Hartford and West Bend, WI.

Besides his passion for helping others, he was an amazing husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed reading, playing tennis and traveling around the world with Teddy and their friends, the Beskes.

Frank is survived by his children, David, Stephen (Debra), Mark (Pamela Vacco), Daniel (Connie) and Jonathan (Julie); grandchildren, Zachary (Natasha), Nathan, Matthew, Nick, Colin, Hannah, Claire and Nicole; great-granddaughters Layla and Lennox. Frank is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Frank is preceded in death by his wife Teddy, his parents, his daughter-in-law Christine, and his granddaughter Alayna.

A Funeral Service will be at 1:00PM on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church (1044 S Silverbrook Dr. West Bend, WI 53095) with Pastor Paul Ihlenfeld Presiding. Visitation will be at the church Saturday, October 5th from 11:30AM until 12:45PM. Interment will follow at Washington County Memorial Park.

Memorials are appreciated to Alzheimer’s Association.

The family sends their deep gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Serenity Villa for taking such great care of Dad. It was a blessing to see how many others truly loved him and spent time making him smile.
