Obituary for Suzanne Mary "Susie" Martin

Suzanne “Susie” Mary Martin, age 60, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 9, 2022 in Jackson WI surrounded by her family and friend. Susie was born February 27, 1962 at Misericordia Hospital in Milwaukee WI. Susie graduated from Brown Deer High School in 1983.

Susie loved being with people. She began working with Goodwill Industries in 1983 where she met some of her lifelong friends. Susie worked with Goodwill Industries for over 32 years and then continued working in the community at Xperience Fitness in Greenfield, WI.

In addition to spending time with her family and her many friends, Susie also enjoyed craft work, sending homemade cards to everyone, traveling, manicures, going out to eat, parties and dancing. Susie always loved to say the toast at mealtime gatherings, and she loved to sing, especially her own original songs where she made up the words on the spot.

Susie was preceded in death by her foster parents, Dwight and Beth Hagelbarger. Susie is survived by her siblings, nieces and nephews: Sue (Tony) Stoecker of South Milwaukee; Zoe, Zach, Ethan, and Xavier, Gary (Jean) Hagelbarger of Aguanga, California, Wally (Kathy) Olejnik of Elcho, Wisconsin, Patrick (Janis) Sierra of Jackson, Wisconsin; Jesse, Nicholas, Linda Kuligowski of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Kim Hagelbarger of Verona, Wisconsin. Susie had a large and loving list of family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be at 11:00am on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Morning Star Ev. Lutheran Church (N171 W20131Highland Rd. Jackson, WI 53037) with Rev. Charles Raasch presiding. Visitation from 9:00am until time of service. As Susie’s favorite color was purple, please wear something with purple if possible.

Susie’s family would also like to extend a special thank you to Patrick and Janis Sierra for opening their home to Susie and allowing her to spend her final weeks in comfort and surrounded by family, friends, love and peace.
