Obituary for Walter Kubicek

Walter Kubicek of Waucousta, Wisconsin, formerly of Slinger, passed away on April 2nd at home at the age of 85.  He was born to Ludwig and Elizabeth Kubicek in Slinger.  He was married to Patricia on May 7th, 1960.  He was preceded in death by both parents, his wife, his siblings Marie, Elizabeth (Liz), and William (Bill).  He attended school at Slinger High School.  He worked as a carpenter and cabinet maker until his “retirement”.  He continued to practice his artistry for loved ones, until his passing.

Walter is survived by his nine children and their spouses: Steve (Nan), Stan (Susan), Dan (Robin), Jim (Mary), Bill (Nancy), Cindy (Dave), Lorrie (Kimberly), Ricky (Karen), and Brian (Jayne); 14 grandchildren: Adam, Livy, Nicholas, Hope, Joshua, Kelly, David, Matthew, Elizabeth, James, Emily, Lauren, Andrew, and Mia; and three siblings: Theresa, Helen, and Frederick (Fritz).

As a father he instilled in his children the virtues that made his life truly remarkable.  He welcomed everyone to his table without judgment, and ensured that they were cared for and well fed.  He was sharply funny, his wry wit, practical jokes and lighthearted smirk provided constant levity and joy.  He preferred 3 handed and hearts sheepshead. He worked hard to become a master carpenter, and the product of that hard work is a testament to his skill.  More than anything else, he was a paragon of devotion and love, providing a clear template of how to love a partner for all his children to emulate.

Walter lived according to his Christian principles.  He lived a life guided by the principles of peace and love.  He devoted much of himself to his faith in God and shared that devotion freely.  Because of this commitment to God, he lived a truly blessed life.
