Obituary for Janet Laura Kraft (Bitterman)
Janet L. Kraft (nee Bitterman), age 67, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Cedar Community in West Bend after a 3-year battle with cancer. She was born on November 30, 1950 in Parkston, SD to Rueben H. and Laura (nee Herr) Bitterman. She grew up on the family farm near Tripp, SD and graduated from Tripp High School in 1969.
On July 8th, 1972 she married Myron L. Kraft at Zion Lutheran church in Delmont, SD. The couple started their life together in West Bend, WI where they both worked at the West Bend Company for many years.
Janet loved playing her saxophone in the River City Irregulars community band and learning to play all kinds of instruments. She was an active member at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir. Janet enjoyed woodworking and could build and fix nearly anything. She was an amazing mother and wife who treasured spending time with her family and going on trips with her sisters. Janet made friends everywhere she went, and her strong faith carried her through life and her illness.
Janet is survived by her loving husband of 46 of years, Myron; children; Joshua of La Crosse, WI and Jolene (Scott Solko) of Sacramento, CA. Brother Rudy (Sharon) Bitterman of Tripp, SD, sister Joan Reich of Sioux Falls, SD and is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Gloria Jane Zobel and her niece Judy Buchholz.
A Memorial Service will be at 2:00PM on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church (7750 N Hwy 144 West Bend, WI 53090) with Rev. Jonathan Vierkant and Rev. Robert Korytkowski presiding. Visitation will be at church on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 from 12:00PM until the time of the service (2:00PM).
Memorials are appreciated to St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church of West Bend.
