Obituary for Richard Henry "Rich" Stoffel

Richard H. “Rich” Stoffel of Jackson, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the age of 85.

Richard was born on June 25, 1932 in West Bend to Henry and Eleanore (nee Martin) Stoffel and was the 3rd son of 6 boys. He graduated from West Bend High School and married his high school sweetheart Janine (nee Nehrbass) on August 28, 1954. He worked on the family farm and went into the US Army in July 1955 and was stationed in Fort Knox, KY. Richard was later sent to Frankfurt Germany to the 3rd Armored Division as an M.P. until his honorable discharge in 1963. He then joined his dad on the family farm and eventually bought the farm and continued farming until his retirement in 1986.

Rich was always a hard worker from early morning until late evening. He enjoyed being on the Nehrbass bowling team for approximately 10 years and truly enjoyed the sport and comradery. He also enjoyed going to farm auctions which he turned into a hobby.

Rich is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Janine, children Randal Stoffel, Bruce (Janet) Stoffel, Debra (Todd) Hudson, and Jennifer Stoffel. He is further survived by his grandchildren Rob Stoffel, Laurel (Curt) Lawrence, Jessica Komp, Holly Komp, Blaise, Travis and Kiley Oakley, step-grandchildren Matt (Jamie) Plzak, Kayla (Nick) Kadinger, Michael Scholze, great-grandchildren Audrey Stoffel, Aysia Lawrence, Jackson Mittnacht, Olivia Nelson, Elizabeth Komp, Sirena Oakley, Travis Oakley, step-great-grandchildren Jace, Kinsley and Nash Kadinger and Gavin Scholze, siblings Roger (Dolores) Stoffel, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Joel (Linda) Nehrbass, Julianne (David) Witte, Carol Nehrbass, Nancy Nehrbass and Robert Flasch, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gilbert, Clifford, Kenneth (Toni), and Robert Stoffel, in-laws Peter and Dolly Nehrbass, James Nehrbass and Janet Flasch.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at St. Frances Cabrini with Father Justin Lopina presiding. Interment will take place at Washington County Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 27 at the church only from 10:00 am until time of mass (1:00pm). Memorials are appreciated.
