Funeral Thoughts for Edna Langenecker These are some thoughts from past and present and into the future. Edna Langenecker filled many lives with goodness but the following are some words that come to mind for me. As a God mother she touched my life in special roles. a. Co parent with my mom and dad a. Never had to take over for my parents but was great to know that if a tragedy would happen to mom and/or dad that I would be accepted into a family – her family. b. Non judgemental a. I could do no wrong and if I did I knew she would be gentle with her consequences. c. Gift giver a. Christmas and Easter times were special because of what she gave to me. I remember “Peter Rabbit” piggy bank that I still have. b. I remember the warmth and specialness of gifts like my flannel lined corduroy pants given to me at age 3 years. Still a fond memory of my childhood. I have pictures of those pants. d. Ever present neighbor a. She lived just across the field – never far away no matter where in this world I live. e. Sacred Smile a. Gave me confidence that God was ever present. f. Sweet Aroma When hugging her, when entering her home, as well as in her presence there was a sweet smell that brought comfort. It was fresh, new, and welcoming. g. Protector a. Leaves me now with a simple question of “Who will help mom raise me now?” The answer of comfort comes from Psalm 131: 2 Instead, I am content and at peace. As a child lies quietly in its mother's arms, so my heart is quiet within me.
