Gerald Komp "Jerry", of West Bend, passed into God's hands on November 27th, 2014. Jerry had a wonderful life spent with his wife Karen Komp (nee Klink). Married for 46 years they had 3 beautiful children: Julie (Peter) Hogan, Lisa Komp, and James Komp. Julie gave him 2 cherished grandchildren, Jamie and Elizabeth, whom he loved to spend time with. Julie's husband Peter brought with him 3 more grandchildren Savhanna, Danny, and Dylan.

Jerry, a lineman for WE Energies began his career in 1967 when he decided to propose to his future bride, Karen, and said he needed a "good job". He loved his work and could spin a yarn about all that he'd encountered in his 45 years before retiring at age 67. He finished as a troubleshooter and was energized by being high up in a bucket truck with lightening and thunder all around him. He would arrive home prepared to tell Karen all about it. In the later years WE Energies had a program to pass out cookies and he was overjoyed to turn a growly face upside down with a simple request of "would you like a cookie?".

He's been retired for two years and has traveled with Karen down south for the past two winters in their 5th wheel camper to AL, FL and TX.

He was a wonderful husband and he kissed Karen before heading to bed every night. Karen loved that her husband was a "talker" and all their friends and family would agree. Jerry loved that Karen found their current home on Green Lake in 1989 and he always thanked Karen for "pushing" him into buying. They lived for 25 years enjoying their full-time vacation home on the water.

He spent many hours tinkering in his garage and doing projects. Jerry's family meant the world to him. He was close to his mother-in-law, Betty-Marie Klink and was her personal helper for the last 13 years. He has said his favorite times were when his kids and grandkids were ages 1 to 5 and seeing their mental wheels turn was the best amusement.

Over the years he enjoyed traveling with their daughter Julie and family to destinations of Florida, South Dakota, Colorado. Jerry also chuckled at the menagerie of dogs that his two children, Jim and Lisa, had and the zoo like environment it created.

Jerry was proud of his grandchild, Jamie, for her fortitude to follow her dreams in obtaining her teaching degree at UW-Green Bay. He was looking forward to the graduation ceremony in December and just bought his latest HD video camera. He was known to be the "man behind the camera" by all that knew him.

Jerry's youngest grandchild, Elizabeth, is fondly referred to as his "mini-me" for their shared interests and sense of humor. Elizabeth has spent many days with her Grandpa and never tired of coming to his home.

Savhanna and Jonathan brought him four sweet great-grandchildren (Ariel, Nathanael, Arealus, Nalijah). Danny and his beautiful wife, Jessica, live in Miami where Jerry and Karen just visited them in March on the way to Key West. Dylan has grown up before our eyes into a young man.

Jerry passed on at only 69 years of age. We will celebrate his life always and remember all the joy he brought.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2014, at 7 PM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (521 Congress St.), Newburg with Father Kevin Kowalske presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 4 PM until the time of the Mass. Memorials to the American Heart Association or for Masses are appreciated.
