Obituary for James R. "Jim" Ostrom

James R. Ostrom “Jim”, age 77, of West Bend, stepped into Glory on Wednesday, September 17, 2014. He was born on March 20, 1937, in Jamestown NY to C. LaVerne and Ingeborg “Inge” (nee Anderson) Ostrom. Jim was raised in Jamestown and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1955. He met Susan “Sue” Dawson while putting in a dock in Chatauqua Lake NY, and they married on September 14, 1963, at the Baptist church in North East PA. They moved immediately to San Francisco and were transferred to the Milwaukee area in February of 1966. Jim was employed as a District Sales Manager at Marlin Rockwell Co. from 1962 through 1974 and later became a Timber Broker until his retirement.

Jim received Jesus Christ as his Savior in 1975, and in the last couple years you couldn’t have a conversation with him without him talking about the Lord. He loved hunting and fishing, and had a dry sense of humor. Jim was a loving father and a good husband. The family will miss his conversations and good, practical advice and encouragement. We are sorry that he is gone but are so happy that today he is rejoicing with his Savior in Heaven.

Jim is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sue; children Shelley (Anthony) Reading-Brown, Anne (Matt) Rateau and Jon Ostrom; grandchildren Noah, Allie, Simon, Zane and Teddy; brother Jon (Ruth) Ostrom; other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church (140 N. 7th Ave.), West Bend on Tuesday, September 23 at 6:30PM. Visitation will be held at church from 5:30PM until the time of the service.
