Obituary for Lawrence "Otto" Schwechel

Lawrence Schwechel “Otto”, age 75, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 8, 2014, peacefully at home. He was born on April 27, 1939 in Milwaukee to Walter and Dorothy (nee Charles) Schwechel. Larry was raised in the old neighborhood in Greenfield. He married Sharan Dickerson on July 21, 1962. Larry was employed as a machinist at Milwaukee Electric Tool. After retirement he worked at West Bend West High School as a “hygiene technician”.

Larry had a quick wit and great sense of humor. He loved woodworking, gambling, the Green Bay Packers, the Wisconsin State Fair, visiting the Milwaukee County Zoo, watching war movies, Western movies, Nascar and stock car racing, and Discover Wisconsin, but most of all he enjoyed watching Jacob and Olivia in their sports and theater activities. He was a wonderful Grandpa and he never missed any of the family activities; he was Jacob and Olivia’s biggest fan. The family dogs Lily and Lexi were very near and dear to his heart, even though he never wanted to admit it. He was always there for his family and he always put his family first.

Larry is survived by his son Larry (Tricia) Schwechel; grandchildren Jacob and Olivia; sibling Darlene Mattmiller; other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Dorothy (nee Charles) Schwechel; wife Sharan; son Dennis; many brothers and sisters.

A Funeral Service will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church (1044 S Silverbrook Dr. West Bend, WI 53095) on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 7:00PM. Visitation will be held on Friday at the Church from 4:00PM until the time of the service.
