Obituary

Virginia Ann “Jinny” Schwaab, age 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at her home in West Bend. Her last days were spent with her loved ones nearby.

She was born on July 28, 1926 in Plymouth, WI to the late Lawrence and Frances Erterlemeyer Schwaab . She attended St. John the Baptist grade school, and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1944. She graduated from Mount Mary University in 1948.

She was employed at Schultz Brothers in Plymouth, the Plymouth Clinic for 22 years, Sargento Cheese for 5 years and Rocky Knoll Health Care Center for 13 years as a medical aide.

Jinny had many hobbies which she taught others as well; gardening, knitting, cross-stitching hundreds of gifts, puzzling, ornament making and art to name a few. For enjoyment she attended Brewers baseball games, visited Road America to watch racing, cared for animals, ate Big Macs and daily did cross stitching or puzzles. Reading brought her much joy too. She was a collector of many items such as teapots, fashion jewelry and her 8 Christmas trees adorned with her collected and homemade ornaments that stayed up all year.

Jinny adored children and they adored her back. She lived a full and extraordinary life that left a tremendous impact because of the way she deeply loved and selflessly served others.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist of Plymouth, WI where she served as an usher, a eucharistic minister, and sang in the church choir. She also sang in the choir at St. George Catholic Church in Elkhart Lake. She was a prayer warrior and a generous giver. And whether it was babysitting a single moms children, driving elderly neighbors to their doctor appointments, volunteering to read to Kindergarten classes, or making friends into family by her incredible devotion and love- she actively lived out her faith in Jesus. Jinny will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and their wives, Dick (Margaret), Lawrence (Ethel) and two sisters Mary Truitt and Ruth Plate, one brother-in-law Bill Plate, and friend Anne Reevesman whom she loved like a daughter. Jinny is survived by dear friends whom she considered family- Joe Milicia, Becky Mitchell (Steven), Michelle Berryman (Cale) and children Graham and Shea, Aron and Tiffany Rodman of West Bend, and their children who considered her grandma; Sam, Forest, Timmy, Casey, Nathan, Jony, AnnaMae, Liza and Allison. Also survived by special friends Debbie Harder and Nancy Horning and her son Owen, and other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 12 PM on Saturday, February 15th at Bend City Church on 224 Butternut St. in West Bend. Visitation will be at 12 pm with a service at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Jinny to St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish, 115 Plymouth St., Plymouth, WI 53073 or a charity of your choice.
The Rodmans extend a special thank you to the nursing staff at The Fields of Washington County for all of their loving and compassionate care.

I remember Jinny when I was a child and my mother took me to the Plymouth Clinic. She was always kind and compassionate. RIP, Jinny.
