Obituary for William M. Claybaugh

William Morris Claybaugh, M.D., age 80, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017, in West Bend, WI.
Bill was born March 29, 1937, in Waukesha, WI, the son of William Stanley Claybaugh and Delores Bernice Wilson Claybaugh. Bill was a longtime West Bend resident. He graduated from West Bend High School in 1955 and later attended Northwestern University where he received a B.A. in Biology. After a brief stint at Culligan he attended medical school at what was then Marquette University. Upon graduation, he served four years as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Navy. He then returned home to West Bend where he practiced medicine as a radiologist at St. Joseph's Hospital, Hartford Hospital, and surrounding clinics, until he retired in 2008. Bill was an avid pilot, skier, and sailor.
He was a local fixture at West Bend airport where he rebuilt his vintage T-28 warbird in the early 1990s. Bill is survived by his wife Julie, sister Janet (Bill) Schober, brother John (Karla) Claybaugh, children Bill (Nicole) Claybaugh, Jr., Trevor Claybaugh, Jason Brockhaus, Jodi (Ben) Schiller, grandchildren Liam, Angela, Peter, Sara, Ava, Conrad, and many extended family members and great friends.
There will be a celebration of life between 12 and 3 PM on Saturday, September 23, at Kettle Moraine EAA Chapter 1158 located on 310 Aerial Drive at West Bend airport. Memorial contributions may be made to West Bend Community and Alumni Scholarship Foundation – COLUMNS, or EAA Chapter 1158.
