Mary Radspinner

Frank was my mom’s cousin (Lorraine Radspinner). Frank’s father, Uncle Gene, was my godfather. Many years ago Uncle Gene, Aunt Bea, Frank and Judy would come over on Saturday evenings and the card games began. My mom would set up extra card tables. As the years went on, Frank used to come over to our house on Oklahoma Ave. often and sit at the kitchen table drinking coffee and talking to my mom while she did housework. He coined the phrase “Lorraine’s coffee is so strong it could bend a spoon.” One Saturday morning when I awoke Frank was there, at the kitchen table (no surprise). There was a bowl of tomatoes left from last night’s supper. Frank looked at those tomatoes and began a discussion on “the best knife for cutting tomatoes”. It went on for quite awhile. Sometimes the topics were even more exciting, like when he decided to try a dating service, and then he met Rosemary, and then brought her over for the “Lorraine approval”. That day was full of anticipation! Frank and Rosemary became quite a pair from that cold January wedding in Caledonia, (I seem to remember singing and playing guitar at the wedding??) to their wonderful dogs (especially remembering Gus who was the size of a small horse and gentle enough to take popcorn from my lips and from behind my brother’s ear – Rosemary has pictures to prove this). I believe I speak for all of the relatives on Frank’s side in thanking Rosemary for embracing each and every one of us as if we were her own. Bon Voyage Frank!
